Grain bin & silo capacity calculator
How many bushels will it hold, how much is in it now and what is that worth? Enter your bin's size in feet or metres and pick the crop.

How we work it out
- Volume: walls π × radius² × height; hopper and roof are cones, π × radius² × height ÷ 3.
- Volume bushels: 1 US bushel = 1.2445 ft³ (35.24 L); 1 imperial bushel = 1.2843 ft³ (36.37 L). Bin makers may rate in either - check the plate.
- Bushels of your crop: tonnes (volume × bulk density) ÷ the crop's standard bushel weight, e.g. wheat 60 lb, canola 50 lb, barley 48 lb, oats 34 lb.
An estimate for a round bin with a level surface. Real capacity depends on how the grain peaks when filling, test weight, moisture, settling, the exact shape and your manufacturer's rating. The crop densities come from standard bushel weights, not your grain - a light or heavy crop changes the tonnes. Never enter a bin to measure: flowing and bridged grain can trap you in seconds.
